OUR SAVIOUR

Our Saviour.
(part three)

Jesus did work many wonders on man.
The Blind saw, the deaf and dumb talked.
The dead arose and the Devils exorcised.
Lepers were healed and the cripples walked.

Salome, the daughter of Herodias
Danced for John's bearded head.
Seven veils she wore when she wiggled
Till King Herod declared John dead.

Jesus was born to love and forgive.
Fishermen, tax gathers, prostitutes came.
Then Jesus made disciples of them all
And cleansed them in God's name.

Our Saviour part 2

Part Two

On crossing a river Jesus did met
John the Baptist the Holy Man.
While he blessed Christ the Son of God,
A dove overhead and a healing hand.

Into the Holy Temple of the Jews
Our blessed Lord Jesus did go,
Amongst tax collectors and lenders
He scattered them to and fro.

Into the wilderness the Christ went
To sort his thoughts from with in.
Satan appeared to tempt and bribe
"Behind me Satan, I will not sin."

OUR SAVIOUR.

OUR SAVIOUR.
(This poem is written in many verses to tell the story of Christ)
(Part one)
A star over the town of Bethlehem
Appeared to be burning and bright.
It guided the three Kings of the East
The way to a manger that dark night.

Gifts of Myrrh, Incense and Gold
Bought with them for Peace and Love
For born this day of Christmas was
the small son of God from up above

Surrounded by animals and their young
In a wooden manger filled with straw
Sat Mary, Joseph and the Babe who
Was born to instruct us in God's law.

DISAPPOINTMENT

DISAPPOINTMENT

He tried to clone me as his lost love
by dressing me in his Swan dry
and his faded blue jeans.
His love of long dark hair;
he'd kiss my dark tresses sometimes
while I was at the kitchen sink.
He spoke of camping in the outback
of water skiing; his speedboat;
of fishing in lagoons. His hunting.
Sky diving and the way she cooked.
I'd stop a moment to think.
Memories of his past.
I looked at him puzzled
When he finished I asked'
"How come we live such bloody
Boring lives now?" His answer
"Been there done that!"

The best times of my life
were camping; hunting and
fishing with my dad;
And watching the Billy boil.
Cooking fresh trout over a rack.
The sound of the lake as
I dipped the oars and the Thrill
of the trout whirling the rod.
Scrambling over the rocks
stalking the fish to see
where it stops to rest.
I looked at him and wondered
What the HELL am I doing here
With Him. The future looks dim.
Where has the excitement gone?
Sheer Disappointment.

THE OLDER YEARS

They are the Golden years I have been told!
They were for my parents anyway.
I dream of that.
The Companionship and the sharing.
Camping; fishing; Dancing and Dining.
Walking hand in hand through the rest of our life's.
Exploring the common interests.
No more worries.
Mortgage paid; money from the Pension.
Aah! The Bliss of it all.
HA. What a Laugh! Pure Fantasy in this spendfrith Generation
We should of been like Squirrels saving for a rainy day.
But no! A $800 wrist watch bought at a bargain for $600;
$3000 racing bike gone to rust
$600 cell phone. To hell with the expense.
We can't afford to retire.
I will have to work until I'm 70 years old.
I deserve better than that.
I have work straight through for 50 odd years
I'm tired of trying to get by.
There is something better in life than this.
At sixty-five years of age. Money from the government
I deserve it.
A greener pasture calls.
I will go dancing and walking alone.
But Healthier and Happier
And Burden free.

Alcohol

The front door opens.
He enters. Home!
Straight to the fridge.
No welcome.
The sound of the first beer bottle popping
Glugging sounds as the liquid flows
down the throat not even touching the sides.
No breath is taken. Finished.
The mouth wiped. Belch.
"Want a drink ?" I'm asked.
Hell its still not happy hour yet.
"How's ya day been?"
Same as usual.
Trying to budget the cheque book.
Anger rises and the stomach churns.
Have to make do without
but the vices still stay.

MIDDLE AGE AND MARRIAGE

Some women reach Middle age
then ponders on the years ahead.
The families have grown and their
needs have been met
Their children have flown the coup.
What next! She looks at the husband
of many a year. What has she in store?
She most probably has looked after
an aging parent for a decade or two.
And all she sees is another burden
Maybe a pot belled, boring old man.
Where has the man she loved gone
She sighs and then shudders
Is this all she has left in life to look forward to?
Some hard facts to dwell on for many a month
then she decides, she wants more.
Time is too short to live with misery.
It is time for her for a change. Time to live.
They have grown apart Have nothing in common.
He just wants to relax and nap. Drink and eat.
She wants to feel alive since her responsibilities
have gone to live their own lifes.
She now has the Pension, maybe her first income!
No more penny pinching, stretching the budget.
No more just window shopping and going with out
AT LAST SHE IS FREE.
