Life in 1970's

Life In the 1970's

Sex seems to be the symbols if this modern world
Drinking, swearing and lying are the spoken word.
Car accidents and death through carelessness and drink
Why take the innocent young ones, please stop and think.
Abortion is what they seem to want; a killing of birth
But God wants love of life on this wonderful earth.
It is war in Vietnam and fighting in the Middle East
Armageddon it will be soon as East meets the West
Uprising in Lisbon in Portugal; Watergate in USA
Earthquake in Peru, famine and hunger they say
Biafra, Ethiopia draught. Sydney, Australia flood
America racial friction. Argentina violence, blood.
Pollution, fallout, dust, noise, dead water and disease
Assassination, rebellion, destruction. God help us please.
I want to hear the birds sing; to see the blue clear sky, sun
Green grass, flowers and trees. To feel free and to have fun.
Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer all have beauty in store
Fresh clear air, mountain stream. Modern life I want no War.

THINGS In COMMON.

One might not be brilliant or well read.
But to enjoy ones company and joy
Things in common do count more.
As you grow older, the time you share.
Learn to play again. Tears and laughter.
Camping; fishing and sitting in the sun.
Gardening; swimming, tea on the deck.
Arguing and then making up.
Wondering what you were fighting about.
Memory lapse. Have to have the last say
always did. Well mum said I did anyway.
Walking on the beach, hand in hand
no need to speak. Just a slow smile
a squeeze of the hand. That will do.
A drive to the river mouth,
listening to music in the open air.
Packed sandwiches spread on the grass
near the old home farm where mum grew up.
Memories of gone bye times.
Of missed opportunities. Sadness. Despair.
But the twinkle in the eye. The kiss of the hand.
The little things count more. Eyes cannot lie.

LOVE THAT DOES NOT DIE!

This is a tale of a woman who loved her man;
The hurt and sadness of her years disappeared.
She learnt to trust in his love and her instincts.
He taught her to love; care and trust him again
Wild passion they shared;was it but all a sham.

Age meant nothing: they were back in their youth
His dark eyes glowed with tender love and desire,
They walked in silence, holding hands along the beach
The years had rolled back to another time and era.
They shared much in common. All she wanted was the truth!

Now she learnt that "I love you"; meant I bed you.
"Promise" is a word for "maybe" and to be broke
"May God Bless you" is as close to as I curse you.
Honour, isn't in the vocabulary. Has no explanation
To trust God! Trust in what? Whfff! Him? A joke.

When she was waiting for the bubble to burst. Faith.
"I'm sorry," is a word used so often. Used for Pardon.
Should be said face to face and eye to eye. Not Text.
Dreams are made to be shattered. Hope to dashed.
Life has no worth, He took away her dreams and hope.

Shania's song of "From the moment," had meaning of
Words and tune. "I close my eyes," has memories too.
Lies and deceit she had a life time of. Interference!
She will never trust again empty words of tapes and texts.
Of" Haven't I proved that to you?" So many wasted years.

Promised letters of explanation, she has yet to receive.
He will not take from her the happiest of years ever.
She still believes in his love for her. Time cannot destroy
What they lost in their youth and gained with wisdom of age.
Both have experienced disappointment, regret and deceit
